Canberra Firestorm - 18th January 2003 Video from the firestorm which hit the suburb of Duffy in the Australian Capital Territory on the afternoon of 18/1/2003. This 10 minute clip is part of over 40 minutes of raw footage captured by Channel 9 cameraman Richard Moran. I've put together this mini-documentary to demonstrate the shear magnitude of this state-wide emergency. As a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service, this is the biggest fire I have assisted in. The men and women involved in this operation did a tremendous job in these very difficult circumstances.
