(June 27)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] A lightning sparked wildfire is creeping closer to Big Sur, California, on the way, torching trees and brush in the Los Padres national forest.SOT: Dave Craddock, Salinas Rural Fire Dept.: " Based on what we saw the other night, in seconds things can catch on fire."Firefighters let the flames burn uncontrolled through the steep mountain forests. Among the victims - massive redwoods that toppled to the ground, scorched.Officials say they did manage to save the historic Henry Miller Library. It is nestled among the famous trees.SOT: Clark Mauel, Santa Clara County Fire Dept.: "And they'll let the fire burn around it and we can control it by using our hose lines. The hot shot crews come in and they cut lines down on the dirt." Crews continue to battle hot spots and small flames nearby, though.SOT: Mauel: " These are historical areas and that was our intention to keep these buildings standing."The huge fire is just three percent contained and officials say more than a dozen homes have been destroyed while the flames threaten hundreds more. ___ ___, The Associated Press
