Hausa Play Maidawa pt1 The Hausa are a people from West Africa, based in Northern Nigeria and Niger, but also existent in Ghana, Benin, northern Cameroon and even in parts of Sudan. In many parts of West Africa, the Hausa language is used as a lingua franca by Muslims. This is the first part of an old clip of a play shown on Nigerien TV called Maidawa (the grainy quality isn't my fault). I thought I'd upload it since purely traditional stuff is so hard to find on the net.
Instruments:
KALANGU - talking drum
KURUKUTU - traditional small snare drum
GOGE - traditional fiddle
GURMI - traditional lute
